Well-known for its beautiful surroundings, Cham Towers and the long beaches, Quy Nhon City has long become an ideal place for those who wish to break up a journey between Nha Trang and Hoi An. The first stay recommended for a trip to Quy Nhon is Ghenh Rang. From the top of Ghenh Rang, tourists can enjoy the view of a vast sea and spot the distant Green Isle appearing and disappearing in the up- and-down waves.
Tourists can also pay a visit to the Thi Nhan Hill where Han Mac Tu’s tomb is settled. Wtih his memorial nearby, tourists are able to find out lots of photos and documentation concerning the life of this brilliant but unlucky poet. They maybe find it hard to leave this impressive place and his unforgettable verse as well.
But in Quy Nhon, sea is maybe the most appealing call to travelers spending their holidays here. It is a great pleasure to caper bare foot on the even stone piled until seashore took shape. The shore is then named the Egg Beach by the local people. It lies at the bottom of the Hill of the Poets. Thanks to the front high stone wall that protects it from the strong winds, this part of sea often stays tranquil.
At night, under the tiny twinkling stars and the fishermen’s light, Quy Nhon seems more attractive . The Leprosy Center is wide open to blows of high winds. At a closer distance, tourists can notice the beauty of the central city hidden under its mixture of traditional and modern architecture.
Visitors can also visit Long Khanh Pagoda and listen to the bonze master telling about the history of its construction and to look at the Hong Thai bell and the symbol sign “Hong Thai Pagoda” dating from the Gia Long Dynasty. The ancient Twin Tower, built in the late 12th to the early 13th century, is also called Hung Thanh Tower. It is about 18 or 20 meters high. A local resident said that “unlike the multi-storey Cham Tower with traditional architecture, the Twin Tower had a special design that makes it simple but solid; its block was square and the curved parts of the roof were entirely the same size. This particular design created a variety for the overall architecture of Vietnamese temples throughout many previous centuries”. Contrasting to the changing reality of life, the Tower remains permanently persistent. For the whole inhabitants in this small city, The Tower is apparently the holy symbol, the existence of everlasting love, the eternity of friendship.
The next destination to be visited in Quy Nhon is the Phuong Mai Peninsula and Thi Nai Bridge; the longest sea-crossing bridge in Viet Nam. The bridge reaches Nhon Hoi, the economic zone, which is 18 km distant from the central city. With an area of about 300ha, Phuong Mai Mountain keeps its ecological system including several rare precious plants and animals in good conservation.
